Are readers aware that the above named steam-specials are now 'back on track'|With a 'pick-up'/'dropoff' at Woodlesford Station too, allegedly the first stopping steam service in 40 years! It picks up at; York. Castleford, Normanton, Wakefield (Kirkgate & Westgate)Loops round to Whitehall juncton, then back to pick-up in Castleford again, then York (again), & hence onto Scarboroughhttp://www.uksteam.info/tours/t10/tscspa.htmTuesday & Wednesday saw 46115 'Scots Guardsman', with 11 coaches!

I'm sorry, it can't be the Scarborough Spa Express if it doesn't do the York / Leeds / Harrogate loop. It's just not right. And stopping at Woodlesford is hardly Leeds is it?Mind you, I bet it was a sight easier to get a path through Cas.

The SSE only stops at Castleford once, between Woodlesford & York. The first stop in the morning from York is Normanton.Unusually the train uses the same route round this loop in the evening. In previous years using the Harrogate circle the entire evening journey was the reverse of the morning route.

'Barwicker'I managed to see it at Normanton Station, or Goosehill Junction over-bridge on all three days, it was a fair bit too long for the platform as it is now (at least 6 coaches too long!)Plus, fitting in sightings at Castleford 'gates', & Woodlesford (Thursday)What a grand sight it was

This service is apparently running again. I was driving over the bridge at Pepper Lane last Thursday and noticed a load of people with cameras etc. I stopped and looked and the train was just passing under the bridge. I think it was Lancashire Fusilier. Incidentally the Scarborough Flyer - from Crewe via Huddersfield, and Wakefield is also running on Fridays, although it doesn't run through Leeds, I saw it at Healey Mills Marshalling Yards, Horbury Bridge on Friday night pulled by 34067 Tangmere.46201 Princess Elizabeth is also supposed to be involved in these excursions at some point.Timetable herehttp://www.uksteam.info/tours/trs11.htm

Yes, & running very late, after an emergency repair at York, with parts 'borrowed' from Winston Churchill, which rather fortuitously was in the NRM

I wondered why it was so late, IO nearly gave up and missed it.

Yeah, its a shame they altered the route, I would have thought the Harrogate line would have been a much more scenic route with it leaving the city via the Bramhope Tunnel and emerging the other side into Wharfedale and crossing the Arthington viaduct, even on a normal train that is a lovely train ride, and of course going that route would mean you'd pass over the river Nidd at Knaresborough, the line they have swapped for is pretty boring as its all flat countryside out there, and for me personally it no longer goes right past my flats on the ring road at West Park - boo hoo!! I used to love seeing it chugging past in the morning then on its return trip in the evening, alas no more....
