Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about, or could help me find out about Croft House, on Burley Road. (Number 232, LS4 2EN).I have just moved into an apartment in Croft House, and it is a beautiful building with high ceilings, big windows and black stone. I have been trying to find out as much as I can on Google but it seems to be over run with land lords and businesses rather than historic facts.I was told by the land lords (as a passing comment) that is used to be an old Convent for nuns, however other comments online suggest it was owned by Stephen Whitham, although again I can't find anything about this man at all. Thankyou in anticipation,Kind RegardsAndy

Hi Andy. Welcome. There's something about Croft House on this site in a thread called "Perseverance Iron Foundry." They were both owned by Stephen Whitham. Try typing in perseverance into the search facility (see list at top of page.) There's plenty of information about the Whithams, but not specifically about Croft House. Hope you find it interesting!

Hi everyone,I think that you will find that Jimmy Savile lived in a large Victorian terraced house in Consort Terrace, Leeds 3 (off 77 Belle Vue Road). It was near to the religious organisation called Little Sisters of the Poor, with which Jimmy was involved (and is now at Shire Oak Road),He lived at the house with his mother (who he called the 'Duchess'), where she lived for over fifty years before moving to Scarborough. Jimmy has owned his flat, which overlooks Roundhay Park, for probably around forty years.I can remember his Rolls Royce and his 'E' type Jaguar being parked outside the house in Consort Terrace.Ian
