Leeds lost cinemas

Never heard of this one before. Well, never heard of quite a few of them before.Victoria Picture Hall. Opened 1912, closed 1937. The Star cinema was built on the same site.This is the view from the back with the nice painted wall sign. And the next view is of the front/side.

Finally managed to find a pic of Dyrons I still think it looks like it was a cinema you know...

The Cinema Treasures website has 23 listed. That's spooky-well,it is to me-I visited the cinema treasures website(for the first time) and found 'Leeds'already entered in the search engine!

It does look liek a cinema as well. does it have the sloped roof that so many old cinemas have at the rear? Or is it a flat / standard roof. Thee roofs are a giveaway on old cinemas

Hi Simon,Drapesy and Ravey!Stirring up memories of my 'Travelling' days in the late 60's/early 70's I used to call on a Reliant Dealership in that very building.They were called 'King's of Oxford' and I remember they were one of the first dealers in Yorkshire to take on the 'Bond Bug'! (don't think it sold very well,actually.It should have gone down well with the biker/hell's angel fraternity! (3 wheeler).King's moved there from Thwaite Gate,I believe,and they also hada premises on Roundhay Road.I,too thought that building may have been a cinema! Why didn't I find out Then? Grrrr! Patrons would have been exhausted climbing all those steps at the front!CheersArry

Penalty of a long memory, is being even longer in age. The cinema like building up the steps [opp. Shaftesbury pub etc.], Dyrons, is it.?I remember well as an L.I.C.S store in its earlier life.
