The Albion, Armley Road has a Fleurets "for sale freehold" sign up that I don't recall last time I passed.

Also up for grabs are the Portland / Watering Hole on Great George Street [never a pub so no great loss], Great Northern Richardshaw Lane, Pack Horse in town, what looks like the Slip and also the Kings Arms, Stocks Hill. Worryingly, the Kings Arms mentions that subject to planning permission there is potential change of use for the site. To my mind, that smacks of demolition! The Fleurets site doesn’t, though, mention the Albion.

Over in Guiseley the boards have been removed from the New Inn and it re-opens on Friday (we were told). Yippee. Support them if we can eh?     Well, the last lot at the Rag were terrible, trying to pass off some very average ales on handpulls as some kind of radical move when the Tarn constantly has six different real ales from all over the country and is running out of wall space for the clips. That the Tut is shut again is no surprise as it's never picked up since Jan gave up and just seemed to be manned by teenagers and never had the beers that it advertised. Then again, I live in Farsley now and I wish someone on Town Street would even try and get Tetley's on handpull!

Thats the irony - lots of local pubs don't stock handpull "because no-one drinks it", but surely thats because they don't stock it?

The demolition men had chewed half way back through the building when I passed by this afternoon (14th).It's very sad, my grandmother lived in the house next door down Whitelock St. and during the war and the cellar of the White Stag was her air raid shelter even though she didn't drink (much). She died aged about 80 Ca. 1980.

Found a pub today that is doing Tetleys on hand pull, The Oldfield in wortley, you never know it might catch on. However the bear staff will then need to be taught how to pull it correctly

Used to sup the mild as a lad, don't think I could face it now, times and tastes change. My Dad liked a drink but not beer.Mackeson/Jubilee for a long drink and probably whiskey after a Mackie.Used to stand his own corner on shorts because of the cost, nowadays a single short is cheaper than most drinks. As regards Tetleys,he was dead against it,called it chemical beer,if a barrel was 'off'theboys from the brewery came round and fixed it.Tets mild was what he called laughing beer and the bitter was the fighting beer.
