Bit off-topic, but Bradford's Telegraph & Argus reports this week that 16 pubs in Bradford are at risk as 2 pubcos have gone into administration. Both own pubs over a wider area, including The Spite in Otley, and I think another Otley house as well. Not good news.

The news is worse than I thought for Leeds. It's the London Town Group that's in difficulties, and they run the Spite, Three Horseshoes and Red Lion in Otley, and the Spotted Cow in Drighlington - which I know has a BD postcode, but most Drighlingtonians seem to regard themselves as Leeds.

Anyone know what's happening to the Rising Sun on Kirkstall Road? It would be a real tragedy if that one went, it's beautiful inside. The New Inn at Guiseley is boarded up and for sale Freehold (like the Woolpack in Otley).Have you seen the book "The Pubs of Otley" - which features interior and exterior photos of them all, caught in 2008 - it even includes the Summercross (and Trevor's last day at The Bowling Green). On sale in Mounsey's in the town (market place).

They've stopped selling cask beer I lived in West Ardlsey for ten years. From 1968 to 1978 and The Hare as everyone called it never removed its handpumps, this at a time when Keg beer appeared to be ousting real ale from every outlet. With the revival of cask beer and CAMRA the Hare found itself in the national Good Beer Guide. With the end of tied houses, and a several changes of landlord in the noughties The Hare has been going downhill. For me it's hit rock bottom. We went to the Bulls Head (jct Leeds Road and Rein Road) Pint of Sams and half of their excellent cider for SWMBO £3.50 and it was packed too. Serve 'em right if they do close say I. Good news.http://www.morleyobserver.co.uk/news/We ... 258656.jpI was in there last night and it was fairly busy. They only sell Tetleys cask, which I'm boycotting at the moment, but I made an exception, because of the circumstances.

Hi Ackers.I'm surprised the Fleece seems closed. Last I heard, they were going to spend loads of money on it. Perhaps it's shut for renovations? I'll have a look next time I wander up that way.As for The Yeoman, I think it's had it. Apparently Tate's next door have bought it for offices. They've put a new gate across the previously shared entrance from Gay Lane, so that the Yeoman's car park is now inaccesible to the public.

Hi everyone,The Fleece closed down (again) a couple of weeks ago. The manager has left the premises. There was a planning application made by Punch Partnership (Taverns?) on 20th March 2010 for extensive structural alterations and the construction of seven lettable rooms, alterations to the forecourt and a decking area at the rear.http://www.punchpubs.co.uk/Punch/Punch% ... d=p7366Ian
