"york st, gasworks, demolition, quarry hill" were keywords..You've found them anyway and posted the really good ones. Thank you. I can't do links either!!!!! I find it easier to just look up the pics and post them!

I'd try it but many seem to spend hours and fail to manage it, plus I have Firefox and that apparently doesn't work anyway. perhaps I'm waiting for computers to be user friendly rather than them be your enemy and fight you all the time!

I came by the Secret Leeds site by chance and I’ve really enjoyed exploring the sites nooks and crannies. To go back a bit in the thread I was amused to see the photo of the gasometer on Wellington Road / Spence Lane. I worked next to it at Driver's furniture store for over ten years. Long before terrorism was a perceived threat it would cross my mind occasionally as to what my fate would be if the thing ever went BANG !! A bit of a no brainer really but I was nobut a young’un at the time. The photo was obviously taken after the Billy Liar film was shot. At the time of the shooting of the film there were still derelict houses standing half way down the streets. The opening scenes show the victory parade moving past these houses. If you look though the smoke drifting across the background you can see double decker buses passing Brydon’s garage on Wellington Street. During the shooting of the film the directors used the site of our old house at the top of Havelock Street as their rest area..
