The above post from Drapesy is from 20th September, 2008, referring to the skulls in their present position - an office block on Buslingthorpe Lane.Do we know if the building has sold yet? If so, the new occupiers are now the rightful owners of the skulls, aren't they? Maybe they'll be more co-operative, assuming the carving is still there? Haven't looked for a while... The boys are still there.BTW,wheres Drapesy??

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Don't get excited! Whenever I've a spare half hour I keep trawling the net for anything that might help us here. Now, this is probably nothing, and it may well have been mentioned before, but I was looking at on old drawing of Adel Church and while of course it could be artist's licence, those things on the gable end sure look different to what's there now don't they? Or is it just me?I'm going to try to upload pictures now. Bear with me if doesn't work at first.

Well spotted Geordie. But those old faces are still there. They look to well predate our skulls as well. But your drawing does show the bell tower was a later addition. I suppose when you consider it's a Norman church it would figure.

Those are faces rather than skulls, however,it does seem odd that a chapel has faces like that on a gable end,i havent seen that before.Could this add weight to the skulls being from Clavells chapel, possibly adorning the gable end?Im sure that the chapel would have been of some similar basic design to Adel ,though as Adel was an older parish church then this would account for the more intricate adornmants such as the Norman arch.
