Wasps

Lets hope it's not a sign of things to come,I've just killed one of the biggest wasps I've ever seen in my life.Was it just a one off or can we expect more of the same?I thought it would be too early for them,but I did see a butterfly today at the LGI is that not too early as well?

I had to free a massive bumblebee from the greenhouse today - it was practically smashing the glass to get out!!! I had to have a little lie down afterwards.

Don't think I've seen any wasps just yet, but I have also seen some huge Bees.

According to one of the papers last week there is a new variety of super-sized wasp that has sneaked in from abroad and is becoming established over here.Apparently a warm summer may see them thrive and numbers multiply. The sting is also apparently much worse than a native wasp sting (which is quite bad enough already!).

The fine weather has certainly brought them out and they are mainly queens and large at this time of year.they are looking for any nooks and crannies to nest in! My son has recently bought a bungalow in Calverley and the roofspace had 30 old wasp nests in it!

I had one this morning(bumble bee that is) trying its best to get in through the kitchen door.BIG fat massive bugger it was too. Looked non too similar to one of Alistair darlings eyebrows!

Oh noooo!! I can feel my heart palpitating at the thought. I have a PHOBIA of wasps I hate em I hate em I hate emMust find a nice corner to go and rock back and forth in Was looking forward to some sunshine too - dang!

not seen the big wasps yet but ave seen the bigbumble bees in lots of different places,also - ladybirds in Leedsand also in Flamboro at the weekend.I thought they were really high summer visitors.Have got the spray and powder ready for the wasps,had a badinfestation a couple of years ago - hundreds coming in and out of theair bricks at the house side.
