Leeds Railway Station's 'Lost World'

Incidentally, and not wishing to pull this excellent thread off topic, but thought I would share something that made me giggle with you guys.There are plans to close Whitehall Rd between Northern St and Thirsk Row for three days in April for re-surfacing.We recieved maps from the council planning department this week detailing the intended diversion routes for buses into and out of the city that use Whitehall Rd, also on the map was a diversion route for cars inbound to the city.the map is a photocopy of top quality draughstman's type drawing of the streets affected which has had the diversion routes carefully drawn over it in different colours for each relevent form of transport.What caught my eye was the intended route for cars city bound which is - From Whitehall Rd turn right into Globe Rd, continue into Water Ln and turn left into Neville St at the lights.Proceed under the dark arches and then "TURN LEFT" into New Station Street and enter city square.Now either they are going to put a big ramp in between Neville St and New Station St or there is a massive hydraulic lift under there somewhere to raise vehicles up to New Station street, something you might like to look for Cardi LMAO.Is it any wonder we cant get a decent transport system around Leeds ??

One time traffic approaching from the flyover to turn right was diverted ahead. So to collect my passenger from Whitehall at the junction of Northern Street/ Whitehall road, I had to travel the entire loop, togather with all the additional diverted traffic 20 minutes or more, to reach the same spot.OK if it's necessary - but why was traffic approaching from Queen Street opposite allowed to go straight ahead through Northern Street instead of enduring the same diversion I ask? Logic somewhere, but not that of a sentient being.

It's not structural. There is a gas supply and a lovely lever labelled with 'Main Gas Valve' . Ooh the temptation!

Little button says 'stop'.Opens the 11KV supply and no power . OOOOH - the day I leave - might stumble a little......
