Leeds Railway Station's 'Lost World'

My speed test consistantly shows everything is ok but I'm finding both up and down stream on SL to be very sluggish - anyone else noticed anything?

Ah ha! glad it's sorted - seemed like the most likely cause - we're just too quick Chris, there were still two there when I went to the second one - wonder what the odds of doing it within a few seconds of each other are??

There were 3 there when I started, I went for the bottom one.

On the basis that the YEP utilise material from here for gain, I see no problem with recording here an article relevant the discussion from the Weekly News, a repeat of the on in the EP earlier.I think someone has said these pictures look like the old inter-platform subways rather than anything more enduring and interesting and I agree that is how they appear to me too. In fact I think there are some very good shots of this in past threads.

I don't think that is the old subway you know.For one it's too narrow, can you imagine any great number of people rushing about either directions in there. The shots are very dark, but you can't make out any opening to a stairwell. I also don't think they were any phones down there, infact i'm pretty certain, they wouldn't last two minutes fixed on a wall in a subway at that height. It would be very noisy down there-which makes them badly sited. Subways were meant to transfer people about quickly, not make them linger about and cause an obstruction. one crack from a passerby and they'd be off the wall every 2 minutes. The subway is decorated with tiles, or glazed brick in a brick bond style. I think that tends to predate the 1967 subway myself. I'm just wondering if it was anything to do with the old Wellington station underneath? The midland railway (To who Wellington belonged) where using that style of tile in there subways, and under bridges in the 1880's. The ginnel subway underneath the Holbeck viaduct been a good example.I caught a bit of the Holbeck subway tile finish on this shot for here.http://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/3851107043/I seem to think the City station subway was a painted finish (top half at least) it did have advertisement posters on the wall, i can't see any evidence of any, or fixings on that picture either.
