I've just realised that it would have originally opened onto the old Westgate roundabout and been quite distinctive. This Leodis image answers the question:http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... Thanks - I can't help feeling that the Council dodn't fully appreciate the impact of the inner ring road when they approved the design of the pool.

It was always my understanding, probably wrong, that the pool only had seven lanes instead of the Olympic eight. Anyone else heard that story? I always thought it was a marvellous pool compared to the others we had in Leeds at that time. That said, I think the money it cost could have been better spent on new pools in the suburbs.
Daft I call it - What's for tea Ma?

I think you are close to the mark if I remember correctly Johnny.

There's a cracking 1970's photo of the pool and Inner ring road under construction herehttp://snipurl.com/u7izgA classic half cab bus, and original Mod on scooter thrown in for good measure too
My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!
