We always used to finish our doorstep carol concerts with"Christmas is coming , the goose is getting fat, please put a penny in the old man's hat. If you haven'y got a penny a halfpenny will do, if you haven't got a halfpenny God bless you"" We'll put your windows through " was an alternative to the "God bless you". Merry Xmas all!
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!
