[quotenick="TrojanWe went on holiday a few years ago with Gain Travel from Bradford, their coach picked us up there (2003) See post above and be as astonished as me that The Nelson has only been closed for about a year.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

There was an interview on Radio Leeds with a chap from CAMRA today. Apparently Wetherspoons still plan to re-open it but "a lot of money is needed to carry out the required work" and it was implied it might be a year or two yet.It will be on the "listen again" function on the Radio Leeds website - it was at about 4.20pm. Another two years? It's been sitting empty for about four years already, and no work whatsoever has been carried out! Perhaps the lack of maintenance in that time is to blame for the "required work?"Better news is that, as well as The Black Horse, The Fleece and The Cross Pipes have re-opened. The Woolpack is still boarded up, though, with a large "For Sale - Freehold" sign outside. The Yeoman remains shut, but a sign in the window says it's temporary, and that there is a caretaker on site. I've noticed lights on in there behind the drawn curtains.

The anti-Wetherspoon's banner on the fencing surrounding Otley's closed Bowling Green pub has gone. It was professionally printed on heavy-duty plastic with eyelet-reinforced corners for attachment. Only the torn-off corners remain, suggesting some urgency in it's removal...

Back on page 15 SPARTACUS mentioned the Cattle Market. Leodis has a pic with the pub just peeping out from behind a corner. Dave Bapty who posts his pics on Flickr and also within the Secret Leeds group on Flickr has just posted a much better picture and in full naked colour too!http://snipurl.com/tqjvu

That stage saw some action. Just read in the Pudsey News today a Planning Application to demolish The Park Pub and build a 3 storey developement comprising 5 two-bed flats and a ground floor office with car parking. I would not have thought it could be demolished it looks like a grade 2 listed ?
