It's Whitelock's - and don't worry it's still there. There really would be trouble if they tried to close Whitelock's! Is the Sun at Stanningley still alive ? I've passed it a couple of times at night within the last 2 or 3 weeks and there were no lights on? Closed at Present.

Dunno if anyone has mentioned it before but I noticed in Leeds recently that the former Cobourg on the corner of Clay Pit Lane and Woodhouse Lane (also known as Scruffy Murphys circa 1994-1998, The Cobourg Bar circa 1999-2002, Japanic circa 2002-2005, Viva Cuba circa 2005-2008 and Viva Latina 2008-2009) is having yet another rebrand into being called "Bar Red". http://www.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF8&ll ... 0,-2.69Has it opened for business yet and is it a case of becoming more of a bar as opposed to a restaurant when it traded as Japanic and Viva Cuba / Latina names perhaps as a result of the recent opening of large student tower blocks in the vicinity (Opal Tower, Plaza Tower and Broadcasting Place Tower)?

Sorry for delay Si, but been in Belgium with friends for a week - if I'd waved I would likely have fallen off !! - and then that would have been seen as another "scooter" sensation and closed The Yeoman for good
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I'm not sure if its been mentioned, I dont think so - but the Bricklayers Arms is closed/partially boarded up and has To Let signs up. seems strange in a student area - I thought it would do well. I remember it as a great pub in the 80's - always had good beer. The JUnction in Hunslet seems to have closed again - sign outside says 'sold' so we'll have to see what happens.

Can't remember if it was this thread but I had previously mentioned the Rose and Crown in Lofthouse had closed. It did briefly reopen under new management but recently closed again. It now appears to be being converted into a minmart

"The Squinting Cat in Swarcliffe has been pinned up......"It went back to being The Squinting Cat at some point? I thought it changed to The John Smeaton, or am i confuzzling it with another pub around there? Is The Cock Beck still there?
