I seem to remember that telephone boxes around the Merrion Centre were painted yellow at one time or am I imagining that????

Like you the only white ones I remember were made of concrete - which is usually left unpainted, and the glazing bars and door frame were Post Office red. A quick search on the www confirms our memories are correct on this . The concrete boxes were the K3 , designed by the same fellow who designed the iconic red telephone box ( K2). It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!

i know it isnt a white telephone box but does anyone remember the yellow phone boxex (well not actually boxes were they) on ends of streets with the old BT sign on themThen they tried introducing the Phone cards etc not very good i remember, i used to ring BT saying my card was stuck, they send me out a free card and then give me a call to where i wanted to call
