I am sure someone mentioned on this thread that its to be replaced by a Tesco Direct? Is this right as i haven't heard or seen anything to confirm this Finally??The Travellers joined the list of closed pubs a couple of years ago now - it has been boarded up ever since.

A fine old building that was obvioisly one two separate dwellings. The White Rose by contrast was(is?) a bit of a 70s monstrosity thats been bricked up for several years now.

The Fountain Head opposite Jimmy's is at risk from the proposedroute of the trolley bus.The present incumbents are reported to be not rewewing their lease and a manager will be installed shortly. How long before it goes down the nick and the wreckers ball a sad salvation.Possibly a sad end for one of Leeds's remaining traditional boozerslargely unspoilt with true Melbourne courtier windows etc.Get the cameras out while you can!and try to salvage some of the assetts.

Drapsey - you're right it has been boarded up for a couple of years; I probably should have said "lost" rather than "closing". Went passed last night and half of it has been knocked down, and to answer my own question there are signs advertising a Tesco Direct opening in March 2010.

The White Lion is no loss as a pub. Went a couple of times, was made to feel unwelcome by the other 6 customers and my feet stuck to the floor. Cold, filthy, unfriendly, gone. It could be so much more, a great building and very large yard with garden potential.

Well, we can never have enough branches of Tesco in Leeds can we? How many is that now?(Probably a subject for another thread - Leeds Ever Expanding Tesco Empire)
