very good!I'd love to see the derelict rooms but not sure I'd enjoy the spooky atmosphere in the other parts of the pub.

I use to work opposite this pub back in 1979 at a firm called Ryder and Chaddock engravers. When i first started, one of the menial apprentices jobs was to stand at a punch press stamping out endless cicuit board facia's on the third floor.Naturally after about ten minutes the attention started to wander and one's gaze centered on what was happening outside. The window faced the Red Lion, and every day i remember looking over at the third floor and seeing somebody sat at the windows looking outI was a cocky brass faced tenager at the time and used to wave and make faces but the person never responded. One day after working there after a month, i received a call from home that my mother had passed away and i had to go to the hospital.I looked ouy of the window to see if it was raining as i was on my motorbike at the time and happened to glance across at the pub and noticed that nobody was at the window.I returned to work after a weeks bereavement leave and never saw anybody at the windows again.

The female ghost was seen looking out of a 3rd floor window by a woman attending the Pagan moot when we used to hold it there. She didn't know the pub was haunted or about the 3rd floor until we were discussing the ghost and she mentioned about a young woman when i said the top floor was disued and before I told her the ghost was female!she went white faced and we didn't see her again.with reference to meeting there.the beer was all keg last time I was in .I try not to meet in pubs that don't stock real ale unless there is a ghost<G>,but I don't know the current landlords.Sam Smiths by all accounts do not like their pubs being known for ghosts.

I'm pretty sure there's no real ale.
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

I knowreal ale was taken out about 2 years ago as apart from myself and a few other peoples at the Pagan moot, the then landlord claimed there was no demand so it kept going off.I don't mind a nice pint of cask Old brwery but the fizzy stuff is horrible and the bottled prices were ridiculous compared to draught beer.
