I suspect that, given the census connection with Darlings yard in Castleford, that the following baptisms to a William Darling in Castleford will be what you are also looking for 1. JOHN DARLING - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 17 JUL 1774 Castleford, Yorkshire, England 2. WILLIAM DARLIN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 27 MAY 1771 Castleford, Yorkshire, England 3. ROBERT DARLING - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 20 APR 1777 Castleford, Yorkshire, England I note that Sarah, mother of william 1800,would also appear to be in Darlings Yard in the 1841 census, with daughter her Elizabeth Bennet Nee DarlingIt would appear that Elizabeth married a Joseph Bennet at Leeds Parish Church 23/03/1829

I'm thinking that the William Darling you have found at Castleford could defo be a relation. the facts that i have got from my grandfather. were as follow's :William Darling born 1800 Hunslet had Elizabeth Darling born 1820 Leeds married Edward Ford born 1812 Hunslet had George Ford born 1854 Castleford who married Sarah Ann Raper born 1855 Leeds who then had William Darling Ford born 1880 Leeds who married Emily Maud Moss born 1887 Leeds who had Arthur Ford born 1916 Bramley who married Mary Humphries born 1928 Leeds who had Kathleen Patricia Ford born 1947 Leeds who married my dad who then had me. this been written down by my grandfather for me when i was at school doing granparents in history many years ago lol. he also told me we are related to the famous Darlings although i havent found the link to be true as of yet and that apparently Raper family inveted cream crackers before Jacobs were but havent got that far either as yet ,only the bakery part. on the census's unfortunatly i cannot ask my grandfather as he passed away 2003. but am now going to try and fit /link these other darlings in. Thankyou So much cnosi and uncle mick for your help. Rowena

weenie wrote: Thats great Si thankyou, also after speaking to a friend of a friend apparently 4th Avenue is where the Sikh Temple is now. but unfortunatly no ones heard of Tankersley in Wortley my quest continues....... The Sikh Temple is in an old chapel on Tong Road, near the end of where Eighteenth Avenue was. Look for the day-glo orange flag-pole! Fourth Avenue was further up the hill, running roughly between New Wortley Cemetery and Green Lane School.
