Bl oody taxi thought it would be a good idea today at half 7 to drive down Albion St outside the post office, and suddenly do a U turn and turn round in the middle of the road. Why oh why do they have no consideration for others. I think I might be a saddo and take a pen and pad up there this lunch and pretend to take some numbers down, - that'll shift them!

Trouble these days Lee is that people don't complain and thus the indifferent and ignorant get away with ignoring the rules (and the law) and that results in an insiduous creeping towards their antisocial attitudes becoming the 'norm' Rant.

Good for you - I've done it many a time at both sides of upper Albion Street (bus stops) and I can promise you it shifts them quicker than the starting pistol at Le Mans !!

I drive through Leeds at about 6.30 every morning on my way to work.The standard of driving and flagrant disgregard for other road users and the laws of the road exhibited by taxi drivers (predominantly private hire drivers, but not exclusively so) has to be seen to be believed.Speeds of up to 60mph on the Loop to beat lights a quarter of a mile further on, weaving in and out of traffic, not signalling, deliberately getting in the wrong lane to pass other traffic then barging / swerving their way across to get into their desired lane, forcing their way across traffic then slamming on the brakes to let their fare out, crossing solid white lines etc, etc, etc - I could fill a page.Then you have the number of them with dangerous defects like brake lights not workingAnd the number of them on the road at that time suggests that the recession clearly isn't as bad as some people would have you think.

Not only that, and this one REALLY bugs me is people who think it is OK to turn onto the Headrow from Albion St. It really backs everyhting up and I spend ages waiting to get to the car park on Basinghall St where I work. If there was some sort of feeder rank where they could wait and have a few in town and the others queueign up to fill the space surely this would help - and ban taxis stopping at the top of Albion Street!!!finished ranting now, won't do any good I know but I had to get it off my chest!! Just for you Lee - maybe more people than we think look on here.What was surprising was how few cars were actually turning right into the Headrow, only a fraction of what we usually see - maybe they're regulars and the patrols are regular too.

Agreed but I think it came down to keeping the legitimate users moving, they stopped as many as they could safwly fit on the pavement and loading bay.At least those who escaped will have had a warning which may stay with them for a while. The cars got a good look-over too, so the mini's number plate broken and hanging off my have earned a penalty too.

Leeds Station seems to be the rank of choice into the late evening at the moment. The Taxi Drivers do seem to be organised about it and not causing an obstruction by queuing in an orderly manor down New Station Street only a couple of cars queuing back from the right turn into New Station Street thus not causing an obstruction to Traffic accessing/exiting Lower Basinghall Street and traffic bound for the Mill Hill Dog Leg this queue being fed from cars queuing in the rank/layby at the western most end of Boar Lane performing a U- turn queuing all the way back along Boar Lane queuing back down lower Briggate and back along Duncan Street However at 10.15 last night the queue was so long that the queue on Duncan Street was at risk of blocking Call Lane. I’m guessing that with the couple of cabs in Briggate also waiting their turn there must have been around 100 cabs. Why??

Perhaps some of it is money, some people doing the econimic thing of bringing themselves in using their own transport and .... thus the environmentally friendlier thing of ensuring there is only one return journey to town rather than two - a taxi travelling both ways twice
