Funnily enough I was on that very corner last weekend and saw a couple of constables on foot patrol stop someone for that very reason.The problem, as you say, while they were dealing with him another half dozen driver pulled exactly the same stunt and drove straight past scot free.

It's a typical example of no respect that it happens (but then so much does 'cos rules don't mean me...'). The more so to have the gall to do it in front of Mr Plod! Do you think they actually even see the signage - assuming they can read of course. Lets put those cameras to use, clearly nobody's realise the easy profit from this have they?

First day back in Leeds for two weeks. This morning on my way up from the bus station ( just after 8.30)a fleet of taxis turned right at the bottom of the headrow into vicar lane as I passed.This evening at about 5.10 traffic (mainly busses) was logjammed from beyond albion street back to Cookridge Street. I couldn't see what was causing the hold up but from recent comments on here it would appear to be taxis. Has the hot spot moved from New Ststion Street to the Headrow/Vicarr lane and f so precisely where. I as k so the YEP can report it in about 52 weeks time if it is still in circulation of course

There was one sole copper out yesterday on the opposite side to PC World at about 12pm pulling people. What's the point? 1 copper and about 10 drive straight past. Never mind congestion charge, but I would gladly see my council tax go to buy some over overhead gantry thing to catch and fine people who disobey the traffic regs at the Headrow/ Albion St junction.

I was round that way this afternoon and stopped at the top of Albion Street to watch for a while.My 'snap-shot' observation over just a few minutes was interesting -The taxi rank was full.I saw 7 other taxis, all of which were legitimately, 'through traffic', not attempting to stop and wait.There were 5 busses.But, I counted 28 private cars being non of taxis, busses, cycles or motor cycles and each requiring 'access' only to New Briggate or Eastgate - exactly not what is intended.Aside from the lights at the top of Brigate were giving a green of only some 8 - 10 seconds, presumably long enough for the anticipated PSV usage of the route.So perhaps a large part of the problem is down to ignorance - and I don't mean lack of understanding.

Taxi go slow???????? Could they go any slower. Despite the "enforcement" mentioned in the report I have seen little/no improvement on the movement between Calverley Street and Briggate in the evening rush hour although admittedly I can't see the cause of the log jam as my bus turns right into Park Row (when it isn't obstructed by vehicles using the outside lane to turn left into Cookridge Street (I've seen at least two) or attempting to cut in for a straight on).The adjustment to Boar Lane for their benefit now makes use of the Highway Code obsolete as a Pedestrain at or on the Zebra crossing across the top of the Mill Hill dog leg should always have right of way over vehicular traffic. The number of seconds between 8.00am and 6.00pm where there isn't a pedestrian in that position would struggle to make it into 3 figures most weekdays.Then there are the unused ranks. Calverley Street presumably for the Hospital is very rarely used. Woodhouse lane near the junction of Merrion Street is presumably only used after 11.00pm. The Bus station is either chocca or bare but never a happy medium...........

Thought that might attract your attantion - at least, looks as though someone is looking at it, albeit a very slow processWatched again on the Headrow'Albion Street the other day, all through traffic, this time almost exclusively legitimate buses and taxis, but - they can't go far with a 12 - 15 second green at the end and a 30 - 40 second red against them. The timings give preference to traffic turning into New Briggate from Eastgate.
