Suprised Arry Awk AND Scandy Bramley haven't mentioned the one at Bramley Town end. Never knew it's name as a cinema, but before it burned down it was Forrest Products. Having lived in Bramley for the first 10 years of my life, I allus ever knew the place as the DIY shop!

Hi Johntyes ...correct..lots of cinemas in the beeston area..such a shame to lose them all isnt it..Now its a trip to the Multiplex at Birstall...i went the other week..its so impersonal..bought some popcorn ..had to take a bank loan out..As for the Gainsborough..i think you said top moor side..Actually it was at the bottom of Domestic Street...Sorry if i read you wrong..Next door was the Rising sun pub...That site is now a car showroom..Thats so you can buy a car to go to Birstall..thats progressBye for nowParksider

Is the Gainsbrough building still there??I so agree with your comment on the impersonalised space and the food is just processed junk - very expensive processed junk may I add!!

First post here so apologies if this has been mentioned before (I couldn't see it if it has) but what about the cinema in the Merrion Centre above Woolworths? It was on the BBC web site a few months ago. The entrance is where the cash machines are now, sandwiched between Woolies and a pawn shop behind the florists. From the pics on the BBC site it looked like a time warp, all gaudy decor and retro telephones. The auditorium is huge with the seats and projection gear gone. Any further info (name perhaps) gladly accepted.

Hope that works.Start agen.Deepjoy,Drapesey!May thanks for those super pix of the Plaza bldg. All in all, I like the original Plaza pic best C/w tramlines!Isn't there a Saab Agent somewhere on that stretch and also Geo. Spence's Ironmongers? They moved from t'other side of the road due to the house clearances that side. May not be in business now.I don't often get down Wellie Road nowadays. Sometimes, on the no 16 bus to town but you can't see much and no time to look. Thanks againArry Awkps will do new post to SimonM

Hah! Looks like zapping ZA for now, worked! Cheers SimonM! Hope this post goes properly too!Right. The Cinema at Bramley Townend Was 'The Clifton' and I believe Forest Products kept the name 'Clifton House' for their DIY premises A very handy establishment for Bramley and I don't think I was ever let down when needing paint tools timber or worktops etc! Sadly missed!Further along Stanningley Rd was the Pavilion Cinema which closed and became an Employment Exchange! Have to go to Pudsa' for yer dole these days, I hear!I was up on the Rosebanks Millennium Green yesterday and got quite a few shots of the area, including one of a stone monumentto those people killed in the blitzed houses in 1941.I also went through to Bellevue Rd and took one of your old WYPGarage! It's come out well on the camera viewfinder.I'll have to post the snaps via email to Munki when downloadedAll nowCheersArry Awk
