OK DrapesyI realised my clanger when I remembered where the Lyric was. on Tong Road! Next to Barr's transport Plaza it WAS! Memories of 'Sanders of The River' come flooding back with that brilliant pic! Look at the gorgeous tramlines too! Must have a lie down now!Cheers! Arry Awk

Arry Awk Hi 'Arry I'm still working on getting an up-to-date pic of the Plaza building - I went past it today but there was a bloody great 4x4 parked half on the pavement right in front of it that totally ruined the shot! watch this space...
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

There we go - the 'Plaza' in 2007 - nearly 70 years after the fire that brought an end to its brief life as a cinema(it will be exactly 70 on Friday week). Compare with picture on page 1 of this thread for 'then and now' pictures.

The once imposing entrance - you can even see where the 'forthcoming attractions' posters would have gone at each side.

Round the back - you can see the unmistakable cinema shape still intact
