So err...yeah.I used to be a member of Compton Library. Two Enid Blytons every week. Tickets from the front of the book filed into my little buff/orangey card holder which was replaced tidily in a long, alphabetical drawer. Books stamped with the date by a proper date stamp first plunged onto an inkpad. Happy days.

I think youre running the risk of going off topic here Geordie exile.Theres enough controversy on SL these days without sordid details of booklending and its associated vices.Ill ask you to stop right there before you go off on to some unrelated rant about the plight of unemployed book binders, hardback vrsus paperback and perhaps even slide down to the depths of the poor state of stationary in general.Dont say you havent been warned by concerned associates.the next thing you know and it will be crack cocaine and then.........GOLF!!!

Nicely said guys you are right that's why the country is BROKE giving money away you soon become skint and on the streets. Not going off the topic it has some history the library gardens been there a long time they used to be 3 buildings there was quite nice at one time played there in the trees air raid shelters that are still around that area just at the back they are still air raid shelters its fenced off used to have garages on the top for years you could rent one to put your car in if you were lucky to have one in them days. on the other side of Harehills lane where the car park is more air raid shelters still there you see a sign with a weight limit on the car park. Keep the good work up guys. I find it hard to put into words not my cup of tea spelling went to Foxwood.

We're quietly thinking simon, that sometimes not offering encouragement might be a prudent option if you follow - that or your cellar

Were the shelters in the cellars?(Very well put I thought Biggee mate. You were at FW when the Brummie boss was there - by which time most of the better staff had seen the writing on the wall and up-sticks and gone somewhere else!)

I use Compton Road library and if anywhere needed a refurb this is it.I got some blurb thro the post as to what was happening, didn't take too much notice but no way is it for the minority(?) groups. One thing I did notice was a branch of the credit union which I also use will be included.
