Thanks Drapesy, great pic, I remember me dad buying me some football boots, Stylo all in one rubber sole n studs combined, he got them off Billy Bremner who was in the Nevin with Peter Lorimer in about 1965 - 66, Billy had loads in the boot of his car, I remember being excited but I didnt realise how much i would come to love Billy Bremner at that time, the greatest. Thanks again and thanks for all the other info too, im still reading all the posts and learnin loads.

Would be great if somebody had a photo whilst there were scooters parked outside, as this was the original venue for the "Gemini Scooter Club" which is still active today, with alot of the original members still being active. They now meet several miles away from their original home at the Swinnow pub. Sorry but the 'original Gemini' never met in the Gemini. They were all Farsley lads who met in the Crown and Anchor at Rodley, they met there from the late 60's and through my time with them in the late 70'/80's. I don't knock about with them now but know most of them really well as they are still my mates. We did go in the Gemini as well as the Phono in the merrion centre, The Prince of Wales, Scarbro' Taps Duncan and of course the Central Soul Club after the Precinct.Oh happy days !

The Crown at the bottom of Tong Road seems to be closed yet again - that's the third time to my knowledge. On a happier note it looks like the reopening of the Engine is imminent.

Ironically, the pub that closed down in Halton, some time ago, is very soon to be rebuilt as a minis Tesco's The Traveller's? Not sure of it's name, but it's next to fish shop over the road from the co-op, next to Matalan. Been derelict for over a year now. Yes, that was the Traveller's Well, it's soon to ba a mini Tesco's. Like the area actually needs one!!! Another nail in the coffin of local shops etc!! Went past the Park Pub in Pudsey Last night and the doors were shut.30.6.09

I had to pinch myself yesterday while riding down Otley Road into Leeds on the bus at around midday. The Original Oak was definitely shut and no sign of any customers. This can't be a permanent closure surely - has anyone any ideas ??
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

It was open on Sunday Blakey with no signs suggesting closure or refurbishment. However for me it could have been closed. The only hand pulled beer was off and the selection of electric beers were all super chilled including the guiness and the premium lagers. It would be a good time for a refurb though as most of the students have gone for the next three months and the next big cricket match at Headingley is the Test in August.
