I lived in Gloucester Ave from 1942 to 1966.Opposite our house was a large gap in the terrace where 4 back to back houses were. I believe that the photo that SI has may be the only photoof this damage.I think only one or two houses were bombed but the others were so badly damaged they had to be demolished. My mother told me that a whole family of 3 were wiped out in the raid.A little girl and her parents. Does anyone have any further information on this site? There is no photo on Leodis. You would think that someone has a photo of this particularly as there were 3 victims!

unfortunately the oracle to the area, my dad, died some time ago, so I have lost my info stream to the area. I do recall him saying that little damage was done to the residential of the area, but the Germans were desperate to flatten the steel works in the area at the back of Armley road, but they missed and most bombs landed in the river / canal wide ofthe mark. My dad did mention that incendiary devices were found, but not many went off. Shrapnell was the biggest problem apparently. His outside bog was badly damaged by a piece the size of a dinner plate came through the roof
