dogduke's thread reminded me that at school all the children knew of a witch's house in their own locale.Ours, when I was very small, was on the left as you turn off Meanwood Road to go up on the Ridge. Long gone now of course. But we all used to run past it in case 'she' came out.In retrospect, I guess these were houses of lonely, reclusive old people who never opened their curtains or ventured out much. Sad really. Where was your witch's house?

There used to be a sweet shop on Buslinthorpe Lane (near the bottom) run by an old lady who I thought was a witch. Anyone remember that?

Our "witch's house", when I went to Sacred Heart Primary School in Burley, was an old detached house on Kirkstall Road, which we could see from the playground. It was surrounded by trees and looked very spooky. There was a story going around that it was either haunted or inhabited by a witch, and I always wanted to visit it when I was older to see what it was really like, but it was demolished before I got the chance

Hi Stevie, yes, that sounds like the same place and thanks for filling in the history. It was next to a Regent petrol station. I wonder what the people who lived there would have thought if they'd realised a whole classful of pupils used to look at their house and make up stories about them!
