The new 5 min short stay drop off has been mentioned earlier. I'm jetting off for a bit of a boys jolly in a couple of weeks and the missus is dropping up off. Is it possible to drop off anywhere else and not have to go into the short stay carpark. Maybe on the approach roads?

It's yellow lined all the way along the approach road to the airport but if you are really quick and don't have a massive case to haul out of the car and can jump out quick and just walk up to the terminal building.It's not usually too bad in the car park,in one entrance drop off your passengers and out the other side.

If the normal rules of the road apply (and it is reasonable to assume they do where standard makings are used) then it would be permissible to stop to pick-up or drop-off passengers where there are single or double yellow lines (as distinct to kerb markings for loading restrictions)I suspect that moves will have been made to prevent this and require the payment route somehow. One option would be to stop at the entrance barrier allowing the passengers to alight - and then go into the short stay and straight out again without stopping

You don't have to pay to drop off in the car park,you get a ticket at the entrance barrier,drop off and put the ticket in the exit one to get out.You get five minutes, it has always worked out fine for me.

That's what we said above Lilysmum, but there are times when five minutes is not enough, as people are finding - you only need someone in front who isn't worried or is rather slow then finished or not - you have to wait the extra time to get out - this seems to be the problem and having to queue to leave is something I've experienced more than once.

When you want picking up on your return,get the wife to park on Victoria Rd about 400 yards before the runway flyover.Phone her when you come out of the terminal building, walk along the exit road footpath to the left of the terminal building down to the mini-roundabout and miss all the messing about in arrivals carpark,doddle.

I'm not entirely sure how the new owners of the airport feel this whole situation is enhancing the passenger experience, or indeed encouraging people to use the limited selection of flights from LBA.Parking fees are scandalous, but what choice do people have?The airport was sold to a private company who now need a return on their substantial investment as there is a marked decrease in passenger numbers. Am I the only person who expected them to squeeze every last penny out of the place?

The one I like best with airports is this growing trend of apassenger surcharge, 'to pay for improvements' Isn't that what operataing cost and those things, erm, profits are for? Oh no, silly me, they are for share dividends and bonuses! Can you imagine any other provider or retailer doing this? 'Improving your ASDA experiance - store entry fee £2'. Tesco here we come I hear the cry!Mind there is at least one store advertising on TV with it's £4 store card and save pounds; the gullible should look a little deeper than the superficial hype - and realise they may well save just as much - and maybe more - elsewhere, and shop for free
