Not only has the 'Yorkshireman' closed but it was demolished a year or so ago Stevief. The site is an empty rubble-strewn patch, the sign post, minus sign, is still in situ.

he shoots, he scores!Leodis comes up trumps again. This is the New Inn in 1974 shortly before demolitionAn older photo on Leodis, which only shows part of the pub shows that it was previously a Dutton's pub. (I think all the Whitbread pubs in Leeds historically were Duttons or BYB , both subsequently taken over by Whitbreads.I wonder how many New Inns there are/have been in Leeds? I reckon at least 9 without counting Otley/Churwell/ Eccup/Farsley/yeadon etc

The Pack Horse was near the Parkinson Building and the sooty tatty horse only had three legs for many years. I don't know if it still exists as I don't live that side of Leeds any more. I meant the Pack Horse on Briggate - the Pack Horse on Woodhouse Lane is still there - had a pint in it about 2 hours ago.The Bay Horse on page 3[also page 4 - a shot down the gated yard)]of this thread hasn't been a pub for many, many years - I doubt anyone under 80 would be able to remember it being open, so definitely NOT the Bay Horse I'm guessing. The sooty tatty horse now only has one leg! I'll get a picture of it anon.

This one is a bit far out, but it's definately a Leeds postcode.I drove past The Boot and Shoe this weekend on the A63 near Micklefield, which has been closed for ages and it looks like it might have been converted into a house or possibly "apartments".There was certainly a family gathering going on out the back.I guess it was doomed from the day the drink driving laws came in as there are no houses to speak of within walking distance. The re-routing of the A1 would have been the final nail in the coffin.Does anyone know when it finally closed?

(they're both still surviving- the Pack horses- its the bay horse that isn't! this thread is getting very confusing!) I assume you mean the Woodhouse lane one;No I just go in for the occasional pint - It used be one of my old stamping grounds in the early 1980's along with the Oak, the Fav and occasionally the Hyde Park. They used to hold disco's in the upstair's room of the Pack Horse - a mate of mine was the usual D.J, but sometimes I'd do it.
