There was a planning application in the YEP a couple of weeks ago for the "former site of..." which was the first I knew of it closing. I went in there a fair few times in the early 90's - first stop en route to the Old Red Lion, Pathfinder, Cricketers, Lion and Lamb and finally The Travellers Rest at Crossgates.I think they're going to build an old folks home on the site, but I might be wrong. ....right next to the big new noisey road when it arrives then!

As I recall the incumbents of Thorner and beyond seemed to think it was on their doorstep for some reason and encouraged a veto on grounds of increased traffic as I recall. Speeding Hearses. Hmm.Obviously those weren't the people who rage down Skelton's lane everymorning oblivious or indifferent to the roundabout at the end! A new cemetry nearby rather seems appropriate!I had no quarms and live nearby
