Not so sure about that Simon, the two sections of what look like walkway on the front and side of the bank of england building are the same style and profile of the old foot bridge/walkway that came out of the Bond St centre and into infirmary St.When was the B of E building built and could it be possible it was intended to extend this "skywalk" this far so these sections were included in the building, perhaps the intended plans never got this far so it was left with two un-used walkways. I'm sure the answer there is, yes - certainly for the intention. I feel as though you could access it but I don't remember that they actually joined it up to the other side of the road. It was definitely intended to join up - I recall this being covered in the YEP a few years ago when they first announced that the Bank of england was considering closing the place - as you can tell it was a somewhat last minute addition to the plans and rather disrupts the inverted pyramid design of the building. There are still a few sections of the elevated walkway remaining near City Square... also have a look behind Greek Street

HiI well remember the 2nd floor enquiry office as in the mid 80s as I was going out with a WPC based at Millgarth.I did find in the Brotherton library at the University, a council publication from the 1960s which outlined a view of Leeds where there would be a walkway system over the entire city centre. Whether this would have linked up or not with Millgarth I don't know but certainly the intention was to expand the Bond St Centre and link it to a walkway threading up to the Poly then joining onto red route in the University. At the other end this walkway would have continued all the way to the Arndale Centre in Headingley but would have been ground level through Hyde Park and Headingley.
