Leeds lost pubs

Not easy getting over the york road but if you dare the sub wayunder the york road and a new set of lights as well to play with, when its says walk look and run across for your safetytry it good afternoon 5 til 9 and then you can play bingo and the quiz

The Central Market pub has been mentioned before on Secret Leeds - but I can't find much about it now- there are some 'then and now' pics somewhere I think. Anyway here's a pic I took of it about 18 mths ago - I think its still open. Its on Duncan Street opposite the Duncan Pub.For many years although officially called the 'Central Market' it was known as 'McQuats' - as it belonged to the small brewery of that name who were based on Meadow Lane. It was then callled the 'Admiral' for some years, and subsequently various different name as it attempts or attempted to be a trendy bar.

Many thanks Drapesy - ah yes, I remember it well as The Admiral, but hadn't ever noticed it as Central Market.

I f it is we used to go there in late 60s with purple lights showing all bits on your dark clothing, It was the same crowd every weekend, and most of them also used to go the Dog and Gun when it was the Carousel bar, Those were the good old days.

I seem to remember a quite large pub on a road off York Road to the right - Accommodation Road perhaps ?? I believe it was called The Prospect (poor memory) but we used to enjoy a weekly night of real good old Country and Western entertainment with authentically dressed "cowboys." Can anyone remember this, or is the grey matter failing seriously ??

No the Slip is a totally separate probl....I mean pub It's further up from the Hope and just behind the Irish Centre. The Prospect was indeed on Upper Accommodation Road and it later became The Richmond.

Had some good times in the richmond club before it got burt to the ground for protection but obviously they didn't pay stuck to there grounds but i might be wrong. what about the woodpecker at the bottom of york road remember the car they had inside there.
