Headingley, down to the Uni - fuelled by students.Chapel Allerton to a lesser extent. The West End in Kirkstall (brilliant pub!) seems to do very well too. I think the reason that Headingley and Chapel Allerton are doing well is because they have managed to stay as 'destinations' where people tend to go and stay for the evening. Places like Armley or Hunslet are no longer the kind of places to go for a night out (Though in the past I have had great nights out in both areas) maybe it's down to snobbery as there are some nice pubs all over Leeds but if they are in a not so salubrious area they tend to be given a wide berth.

The Ancestor's 'grand reopening' didn't last long - its closed and shuttered once again.

Thats good to hear...my Grandfather was a barman in there, and Head barman in the Central Market (Mad House) many moons ago...My late uncle Stan dropped dead in York Rd after leaving the White Horse after a twelve hour session about 2002.. not a bad session for an 82 year old.

That last comment should have read Head Barman in the Market Tavern (Mad House) not the Central Market, which was also a favourite pub of mine back in the sixties.
