Thanks again drapesy - the pub I meant was jacob's Well

The Sheesh Mahal used to be a branch of Midland Bank, you can still make out the sign in the stone work.Incidently the eatery next door'Viva Cuba'used to be a Yorkshire Bank.

Does anyone recall the Scarborough Arms on Armley Road? I played darts in there 30 years ago and it was a typical street corner pub.It stood opposite Marston Radiators. There was another one further down called the Castleton.I've tried looking in Leodis but couldn't find any photos

Drapesy - you are a star - just seeing the Highfield brings back many memories. In terms of where it was , if you followed the M621 from Hunslet towards Manchester and took the exit for the football ground and then turned up Wesley street right to the top. At the top turn left and travel about a mile to where the crossroads of Tempest road and cemetary Road is , the High field was behind the Mediacl centre on the corner. In the old days you get a number one bus from city square which would take you up Victoria Road , onto meadow lane and then up to beeston Road. half way up Beeston Hill near just past where the old Malvern Cinema use to be there was a turning to the right ( you can still see the entry via the pavings ) . The Highfield was along there on the right. Thanks for that Philt - I know exactly where you mean,.I can remember seeing the Malvern cinema once (when it was derelict) - but if I saw the Highfield it's slipped my memory.

This was on the other side of the road to the pubs you mention. if you crossed the bridge, and the road, carrying on towards Leeds you soon then came to the Albion. This pub was still there c 1973

It were a Tet's house then. (1970's)Was the Cas a John Smith's pub? I remember the pub, but truely can NOT remember the ale. Old age and senility, I guess. :-(
