Nice bit of info mate Oh yes,as threatened, now that the browse link works there no stopping me.Moot in the OED means a topic of discussion or debate,as this was a type of town hall then im sure that there were many debates going on,hence Moot Hall.

thanks for all the information. I se that i was wrong in my thinking. it was the cloth hall Ken Goor mentioned come to think of it.I got muddled.I hope something is done with it, it is a real eyesore as it is and as said earlier, must be in danger of colapse by now!

it was parksider who wanted the skull info actually not myself. Interesting though. I had heard about the skulls on a ghost walk as the two deceased were supposed to haunt the spot.the story is mentioned in Kenneth Goors excellent book "Haunted Leeds" published last year in paperback by Tempus.

No mate, that was the digger and his Skulls head yard pics that set off the skulls thread. This theads subject matter became intertwined with the skulls because of the Kirkgate connection.Do you know something,i really do miss the palpable intensity and dare i say it ,excitement, that the skulls thread produced at its height. At one point you couldnt reply to a message or make a posting without missing out on an intervening post from someone else.Good days.

cnosni wrote: Hopefully attached is google earth image of Kirkgate, with the white Cloth Hall court marked.s you can see the courtyard appears to still be there, the basic layout of the two wings and rear range is quite easy to make out,and you can see that the later added building between the two wings looks distinctly different from above, wheree as at street level its not as easy to tell. The building at the bottom center was a ball room going back to the seventeen hundreds it used to be an antiques center upstairs you could still see parts of the wall decor.I remember in the sixtys this building was a tabacco wholesalers.
