I'm certain that wouldn't have happened to either of the Manchester teams. Leeds United ground was owned by LCC for a long time. They bought the ground back in the 80's when LUAFC was relegated. Once the ground was sold back to LUAFC they held share in the club and received a revenue from it. However, when The idiot board, run by Ridsdale sank the club into silly debt and the admin forced the old sharholders out for bugger all the Council lost a lot of money in it. It is hardley surprising that they wanted nothing to do with it after that. Would you. I wasn'thinking so much about the council, but about the major businesses and financial companies based in Leeds. What Leeds U owed is a drop in the bucket to these companies. After all Chelsea presumably are losing money hand over fist, but they have a sugar daddy who can afford to keep shovelling money in. I'd have thought that a company such as Asda (Wallmart) say, would want to promote their HQ's city by making sure that the football team remained in the top flight of English football thus keeping the city's name to the forefront of people's minds.

It's a just a small point and a pretty pedantic one but Leeds is the SECOND largest city in the UK by population behind Birminham. London is a collection of two small cities (City of London and City of Westmister) and 32 boroughs.
Ravioli, ravioli followed by ravioli. I happen to like ravioli.

Well that is the case sice 1974,when all the places such as Otley etc came under the umbrella of Leeds. Not too sure how happy all those people are to be lumped in with Leeds. The actual urban population, based on the pre 1974 changes puts us around 3rd or 4th if i remember rightly,Manchester being 7th.
