Tetley's To Close?

Just heard on Radio Leeds that Carlsberg are to close Tetley's Brewery in Leeds.Anyone have any more information? Oh, and apparently there was an election in the USA. First I've heard...

Yeah mate. It's on all the news. A loss of 170 jobs and talks with the work force are to be held straight away. the brewery will be closed in 2 years, they can't afford to keep 2 plants going in the U.K.A brewery has stood there for 100+ years e.t.c!

If you listen quietly you can almost hear poor Drapesy crying in his cornflakes!On a serious note though this must have been on the cards for years surely?What with the state of the pub situation and all that.

Not surprised at TBH. Such a crying shame that a great cask ale will die like this though.

Tetleys as a credible bitter brew has been dead years though hasn't it?

According to the BBC their spokesman said:"He said the company would continue brewing Tetley beer, preferably elsewhere in Yorkshire, if not somewhere in the north of England, but "definitely" in the UK."So that's Ok then.
