Fascinating stuff Phill, well done mate. I believe there are some fantastic tunnels in Liverpool (Williamson's tunnels) but I think they have been extensively explored and covered by others.
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

The Williamson tunnels are well known about now. There still finding more. It's open as a tourist attraction now. Or some of it is. The story behind them is fascinating.

Hi Si. There were 17 arches, not all had stairs down there. All the arches are bricked up and no steps have been there since 1971. There were also 2 stairwells on Victoria street leading down to the toilets and arches. They've long since been filled in and paved over. The toilets closed in 1967. If you look at my post again you can see an arial shot were the stairwell used to be. The road runs over the top were they were these days. There are pictures of both stairwells blocked off taken inside the arches on my story. If you can figure out how we got in there Simon you are one amazing man.. I'm still laughing my head off how we did it. It's so ingenious lol
