I dont want to say exactly where as its still lived in today and wouldnt be fair on the current occupants to mention where exactly.I'll mention a couple of things what happened which occured i tnk between 1950's up to late 60's. They arent in chronological order as im trying to remember off the top of my head the stories my gran used to tell me.There was the general items going missing, and at first my gran thought it was my dad being a kid and moving things. But he always swore blind it wasnt him. This got to the point that whenever things were left around my gran would get someone else to phisically touch the object and confirm that it was there. Morning after, it had gone. This used to happen on a regular basis, and as i can remember this was the start of things. Flashes of light used to appear and on occasions the house used to give quite a lot of static electric shocks off walls. Then the thumps and bumps started, door banging ect.On one occasion, a old cassette recorder had been left recording with no-one in the house, when this was played back, a foriegn voice could be heard and a cackling woman. Usually, even though people do not understand a language, you can usually tell what language it is form the accent, but the people listening to the tape could not understand the language. It was played a few times, but the tape player then chewed the tape up.On another occasion, my gran and her sister were decorating upstairs. The had a beam of wood which was resting on top of two steps ladders, on which there was a bowl of wallpaper paste. My gran and her sister went downstairs for some reason, then banging started to come from upstairs, my gran jokingly and no used to the goings on told my sister, tell it to go away. Then a almighty thud came from upstairs. They went up and saw the bowl of wallpaper paste had been turned upside down and still on the beam going across the two step ladders. On another occasion, my gran awoke for no reason and saw a green figure, unclear and blurred in shape, was leaning over my dads cot while he was asleep. On another night, my gran had drawn the curtains together but not completely shut, so the curtains at the top where they met was still apart slightly. My gran looked up to see a little girl looking through the gap in the windows, bare in mind the gap in the curtains would have been about 8 and half foot high and it was late at night. There a loads of other stories too which i just wouldn't have time to mention. But the house was definately haunted, my gran was never a religous person, was rational and always tried to look for a genuine reason for all the things that used to happen. At one point my gran went to a local priest, who in turn put my gran in touch with a priest that performed excorsisms of such, but it wasn't called that and i cant remember what it was called. Anyway, we recently found a letter, which my gran had kept all these years, from the priest that was going to perform what ever ritual it was, which also had an apology from him not contacting sooner do to the railway strikes at that time (nothing changes eh lol). These stories used to fasinate me and scare the living daylights out of me at the time. There are more stories but I really would be here forever typing. The bit with that shadow of some sort watching over your dad while he slept in his cot, very much reminds me of a spirit guide. They always watch over you when your a young age.I come from a family of people have have what you would call 'sixth sense' I myself being one.I live in Castleford, we have 3 spirits in our house. One is apparently my mum's spirit guide. He used to scare the living hell out of me when i was little. he is only young and looks like he's wearing victorian clothing. The second is my Grandma. She was very close to me and fond to me before she passed away. Now she just seems to come and look after me, occasionally i can feel her sat on the end of my bed just like she used to when she was alive. The third is acctually an old man who has a very angry temper. Some people don't believe in these. But as we can see and talk to them. We do know why he's there. He's usually sat in our guest room, sitting in the corner, he tends to scratch at the walls, and throw things at the door around the morning. It is believed that he and his wife died in a house fire a long time ago. And still blames himself for his wife getting trapped in the room he's always in.

My lads only 11 months old and occasionly will start to watch the corner of the rooms or walls then burst into a really hysterical laughter. We will look into the corner of the blank wall or walls but there is nothing there for him to do that. Is it something else or is it just kids using there imagination?? Does seem a bit freaky sometimes when he does it

Although we get a spirit guide as soon as were born and they stick to us, were apparently the only one's who can see them. Maybe he's laughing at that?

When we moved into our newly built house our then 2 1/2 year old son awoke us on our second day of occupation, a dark February morning at about 5am. He was laughing and telling us that a Mister had just walked though the door. Lots of strange things then began to happen. Our eldest who was 8 at the time woke up screaming the boy he was playing with was dead. During the night little train sets would set off with no help from us. I got home from work one Friday - it was a nice sunny winters day - I went upstairs to see what all the noise was to find a pinball machine on, the lights were flashing and the ball was rolling around, but there were no batteries in it!!! By this time I was ready to move out. Lots of other things happened, balls bouncing etc, the integral security door from the house to the garage would be open in the mornings when we knew we'd locked it the night before. We tried to get a description of the Mister - our youngest now called Mister Bump. In as much as a 2 1/2 year old can tell we managed to establish our visitor had white hair and a beard, bit like Santa :-)The house is built three doors away from the old church yard. One day as I got out of the car - an elderly gentleman who had been attending a funeral in the church came to see me. He told me our house had been built on land his grandfather had kept goats, chickens etc on. He said he had spent a happy childhood on the land. I jokingly asked him if his old grandfather had white hair and a beard. He said yes and I explained our situation to him. He told me his grandfather would mean us no harm and that he had loved children. He said all he would be doing was looking to see what had become of his land and to see that the children had settled. He gave me his name and told me to tell him that we were settled in now and he could rest. I did just that and since then we have had nothing happen.I still can’t explain why our eldest said the boy he was playing with was dead, and our youngest now 6 has no knowledge or recollection of Mister Bump.

Hi Just found the forum seems like a good source of spookie info , i've had a few ghostly sightings in Temple Newsam but failed to speak to anyone of knowledge of the area about them , would like to hear from anyone with knowledge of what sort of costums were around when the house was lived in , still a sceptic tho .

There is apparently alot of spirits in Temple Newsam itself, especially the house. There's also something on the Yorkshire Evening Post, where they go ghost hunting, i believe they have a video up of Temple Newsam.

There is a vid on the YEP at temple newsam. I've got to say, it's actually very good. Looks like they've filmed six of the most haunted buildings in Leeds. They're not all out yet but I've seen the town hall one and the temple newsam one and they're both fab - in a 'most haunted' kind of way. I think there's links on the main YEP site, but it's got its own website at www.hauntedleeds.co.uk
