We went all over the place. Haworth a few times, including a week long stay at the Youth Hostel that included several forced marches, sorry, walks in the pleasant winter countryside. There was a trip to Riddlesden hall followed by the afternoon at Shipley Glen. Shibden Hall at Halifax was another, including three trips round Halifax town centre as the coach driver got lost. Moonraker was showing at the Halifax Odeon I seem to recall.Bempton Cliffs and Hornsea Mere was another.A camping trip in the Yorkshire Dales on a farm somewhere near Ingleton, where the entire facilities consisted of one outdoor loo and a sink with cold water only. There were several trips to York where I remember someone opened a can of fizzy orange and it sprayed all over the nice clean antimaccassar on the seat in front and the teacher made them go and apologise to the coach driver!Harewood House and bird garden too.We went to London too, on the train, once with Beechwood and once with Foxwood.Foxwood had a place up at Horton in Ribblesdale where we had a week too in the sixth form and where we sneaked off to the pub...(think it was the farm, not the Golden Lion). We also had a week on the Isle of Arran for a geology field trip (more pubs). The thing is that they all seemed so far away (obviously the Isle of Arran was) that every trip seemed like a big adventure.

Not quite a school trip, but Raveydavey's exploding fizzy drink story reminded me of a game played by several members of a works coach trip to the seaside. It was called "The Beer Hunter" and was a form of Russian roulette. One can of lager was selected from two four-packs and shaken vigorously, then replaced without the players seeing. They then took it in turns to open each can in their face.Simple pleasures...
