My Grandkids love it if I talk 'broad yorkshire'. I often tell them to ' Frame thissen' when I want them to hurry up. Or ' Put coil in't oile' -Shut that door! I used to get told 'Stop laikin about you two' When me & my brother were acting up/ arguing/generally messing about. When I babysit & it's bedtime I'll say 'Come on, up them dancers' meaning up the steps to bed. When we were children we lived in a back to back house with the toilet and dustbins in the 'midden' yard down the street. The 'Possa tub' was in the scullery, and it doubled as a bath when my Dad was working & Mam didn't want to drag the big tin bath up from the cellar. If we were particularly grubby we would be told we 'looked like a midden' and to make sure we washed inside our ears properly as 'they could grow taties in there!'I loved 'Whitsie' when I could go and show off my new clothes (usually bought on a Wigfalls club cheque!) to neighbours and relations. I'd knock on their door & tell them "I've come to show you my new Whitsie clothes" Then be invited in, give a twirl, clothes much admired & be given some Whitsuntide money, for my new clothes. Sometimes it was only couple of tanners, or a bob or two, but my favourite Aunty would often give me a ten-bob note. I felt very rich until I got back home & had to share the money with my brothers! So very soon I would be 'skint' again. (Without a bean/no money at all!)

That's BORACIC lint of course!Wot's a cockney feel like then?LOL!You can't get Boracic lint any more, or the lotion or powder.lots of people became allergic to it. Had my eyes swabbed out with it by mum if I had a stye, many a time! It worked a treat! Also, any footsloggers in the mob would dust their socks with itbefore a yomp (route march!) to prevent blisters forming!Mind you,we ended up with 6 toes in the finish, but better thanblisters!LOL agen!
