Hi zip 55 i think your right with the local dialect to me it fits into place many thanks for that .I have another word moochin sorry if the spelling is wrong i cant spell every day words never mind this kind.EG What are you moochin about over there for. Hi cnosni has far as i know we dont have any connection with Lancashire i think more Irish blood than any thing else .I have never heard any one else use this word but my mother.

Allair-um it is! bejabers an'behave yersel!I'm about 1/3 Irish me'sen! Don't ask!'Mooching' is a general expression. Not justLeeds dialect. It means skulking about orwandering slowly,deep in thought! (as in;'What time do they open?')!There is even a U.S. blues-y song called'Minnie the Moocher!' Mebbe b4 your time!

In Morley the dialect word for a child is "barn" recently in Mallorca I saw a Children's Menu and the Danish version wasbarn spiseseddelIt's amazing how many of what our teachers in the fifties tried to stop us saying turn out to be genuine word from another language!
