i have just moved back to Leeds march this year after moving to sunny Scarborough, i did miss a lot of things but everywhere i looked in Scarborough reminded me of here as nearly every street has something or someone associated with Leeds. my first next door neighbour was from Leeds and her family still live here too. the one thing i couldnt get my head round was asking for a fish cake i got a shock it was like a frozen Ross fishcake with the green bits in. i was told our fishcake was a fish patty. but then when i went to the fishshop on town st i asked for a fish patty and looked at me blankly!!

MICK SGC - You've summed it all up for me. Although we all miss things, change is inevitable, and the things we most miss are not there anymore. The Whip, the Madhouse, Ostlers, the Peel, King Charles, Yorkshire Hussar, Billy Bremner, the Old Mecca, Don Revie, the old LUFC, although they are still close to my heart and I try get back twice a year to watch them, the Hao Wah and Peony chinese restaurants on Bond St. The thing I miss most tho is the crack with the lads. For me, you can keep your Scousers and Geordies, The Leeds sense of humour is second to none.Although a lot has gone in Leeds, a lot of better stuff has come thro. When I return to the UK now, my routine revolves aroun Weatherspoons, the Palace, the Adelpphi, over to Bradford toe the Fighting Cock followed by a good Ruby, Elland Rd, Headingley to watch either Rhinos OR Tykes from that magnificent new stand. My perspective is a very small one, and I appreciate the hundreds of other changes that have taken place making Leeds one of the greatest places in the world to live. From a practical point of view, I could not afford to live in England now I am retired, but I am fortunate to still have some good mates in Leeds and have the luxury of being able to get my Leeds fix twice a year and with fantastics sites like this.
Old Mods never die, they just semi retire.

Hi my thoughts about Leeds then and now are when i was a lad Leeds was a working class city now it is getting more like London. Some people might think this is a good thing i for one dont it would be a shame if Leeds were to go that way the few times i have been to London i have found the people to be not very friendley on the whole they seem to be addicted to money and all it brings i never found this in Leeds.I Know we have to have economic stability but at what cost i think the cost is social interaction; this we found in the corner pubs working mens clubs you might say we still have them yes but getting less and less as the years go by. The young ones like the trendy places but tend to stick with there own group and now we have a pecking order some so called scocial eating and drinking places i could not go in on a months penshion. there allways have been places like that but not to the extent we have now social interaction is dying take my word for it Any one want to shoot me down in flames please feel free to do so. Just had a thought my mam would have been able to name every family that lived in our street i have lived in this street for five years i could not name five.

When ever I'm in London I notice the same thing with people as you've mentioned, they dont smile, morning noon or night. On a whole, most people, don't stop to help people either, I had to physically stop someone once so they would help an old woman who was in distress, because I was the only person who stopped.Well, I'm in chicago now any way, I dont miss much in leeds apart from Family, but I can still speak to them with this thing. *Pats trusty laptop*www.flickr.com/photos/mickchicago
