I noticed yesterday that The Rising Sun on Kirkstall Road has a large "To Let" sign up. Also, one of the large front windows was smashed. Not strictly Leeds, but The Spite above Otley was shut yesterday, with a "To Let" sign. I believe the landlord did a moonlight flit the other week, and it was being run by a relief manager until now.Still nothing happening at Otley's Bowling Green pub yet, either.

Several times I've prompted Wetherspoons to "spill the beans" about the Bowling Green but been met with a stony electronic silence !! Last time I looked at the yellow notice on the lamppost outside, concerning objections, I'm sure it said the closing date was in October 2006 - something very odd going on.

That's right, Blakey. It's becoming a right eye-sore with all the litter building up inside that awful "temporary" fencing. I don't understand what's going on either. It was a good pub, and there's a lot of history in it's fabric.

Jam, Have just driven home from work via Buslingthorpe lane. The building you refer to has been boarded up for many years. It does look like it has been a pub in better days. The only reference to a pub that I can find that looks possible is the Springhill Tavern. There were a few pubs along Buslingthorpe lane but only The Primrose remains at the junction with Meanwood Road. (That was certainly open this evening!!!)

I guess so! I just wondered if there was more to it, because one of the large front windows was smashed.

No problem Terry - the one on the curve towards Regent Street was the Marquis of Granby (now a job centre of sorts). The big one at the bottom of Eastgate (Youngers originally as you say) was the Yorkshire Hussar, later Tam o' Shanter, then Hoagy's Piano Bar - something different now I think, will have a look next time in Town.
