The map showing the Vicarage dated 1242 - this map has been traced by someone (don't know when) and dates added.

Close-up of Crown Court in 1831, which appears to indicate that the courtyard down the side of the skull building with the green gate was not in existence.

Advert from the Leeds Mercury in 1874 about the auction of the Crown and Fleece and its outbuildings, together with other buildings owned by the vendors (who aren't mentioned by name). Added here for general interest about the history of the pub.

Further to csnosni' post on page 1 of this thread.'Pigot's Directory of Yorkshire' published in 1830 list's the 'Crown and Fleece', Crown Street (John Ainley proprietor) so the date of the name change from 'Crown' to 'Crown and Fleece' can be refined to 1826-1830. Kelly's directories of Leeds indicate that the pub was still open in 1929( Mrs Clara Holloway, landlady) but had closed by 1932. Currently a 'best guess' of the pub's closure would appear to be 1930 - the year Dyson's believe they took over the site.
