They are as follows:Mothers side - First found in Yorkshire where they were anciently seated as Lords of the Manor.Fathers side - First found in Derbyshire where they were seated from ancient times, some say before the Norman Conquest in 1066.Might have to investigate this a little further, he he. Strange! Mine says the same as yours but Nottinghamshire instead of Derbyshire,I think this is made up job as Americans are mad on tracing their roots, getting coats of arms and tartan etc.If my family were lords of the manor then somebody did one with the family silver long ago!!

Mmmm....The site reckons that I'm descended from a Saxon lord in Lancashire. I'm not so sure. I'm quite happy to be Saxon but my uncle Bob had a condition known as Dupuytren's Contracture which only affects people with Viking ancestors. Can I be both?On the other hand, I've got Scots blood in me 'cos my Great Granddad Graham was chucked out of Scotland for sheep stealing.Mongrels of the world unite.

Northumberland back to ancient times, apparently - which fits with other stuff I've found on the t'interweb. Further traces reveal European aristocracy including the Normans, Charlemagnes and the Holy Roman Empire and others. If you beileve everything on t'net, my family can be traced right back to Mark Anthony (the famous Roman) and beyond...

I know from my fathers side, our name is derived from a middleages mercenary group in (Yup) Ireland.Seemingly however, I should now consider myself to be from Kent.Ah well, at least the 'other' Leeds is down there!
