I got it wrong re The Horse and Jockey - The Victoria became 'Trotters' didn't it.The Bridgefield was a derelict shell when I used to drive past it every day on the way to work two years ago. It must be in an even worse state now considering it's still there!

Lord Cardigan in Bramley is closed again - 'full metal jacket' too - not just plywood as at the 'Wheatsheaf'
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Anybody know what's happening at The Cardigan Arms, Kirkstall Road? It's surrounded by scaffolding, but appears to be still open.

There are 2 photos of this pub (One when it was Melbourne house, and a later one when it had become Tetleys's) near the top of Page 15 of this thread. Hi cnosni, some good posts you've added on this site. The New Inn was quite a small pub which was knocked down around 1970 I think. The last landlord was called Richard Barrett. The Kings Arms across the road was also knocked down but replaced by the New Kings Arms I believe...

I remember the Moorcock changed its name to Funny's for a while back in the early - mid eighties, the bouncers enjoyed fighting more than the locals & that is saying something ! Hi, im new to this site, and just seen your comment regarding the "woodway pub", on vesper road, Hawksworth, I was the last manager to manage that pub, back in 1998, and take it from the horses mouth it was a pub from hell, the memories of that pub are still as fresh as yesturday, it was a two room operation, a disused tap room and a large family / function room, which was the main trading area, a few of the regulars were ok, but the pub was a magnet for drug dealers, and other rif-raf. I managed the pub for a private company for about 7 months, before calling time on that dreadful pub, the building was nice, with huge living quarters, 7 bedrooms and a massive cellar space. if the woodway had been located in the right area, it would be trading today, from what i understand the woodway pub did not reopen when i left, and was soon sold for redevelopment into flats. I have a tiny few good memories of the woodway, but they are overshadowed by the problem's. Hi Alex,Yeah I think you are spot on about the Woodway. Why was the tap room disused though? There were some right characters went in there; I recall the Westons, Fred Cooke, Mad Paul in the White Suit, Lainey, John Greenwood, The Quiet Man, Sean McGlimpsey, some doylum of a rugby player called Milner, 1-2-1, Jeff the Midget, Drunken Charlie, Phil the plumber (and goalkeeper), Royston, Gas Meter, the Roebuck brothers, Lorna, Dublin John the Long-Haired Dwarf, Jimmy Saville's nephew, Big Martin with the Special Cue etc. Apart from that they were loons.

I'd also like to day that this is a great thread on a great site. And furthermore that I am glad the Chained Bull has gone. I could never stand either the bouncers or the clientele there. North Leeds has always been the worst part of Leeds for pubs.
