There was an electric milk float delivering to my work when I arrived this morning. Dairy Farmers of Great Britain was the company I think. Dread to think what that's like in the morning traffic round town.Wasn't pulled by a handle though... I've never seen that before.dsco

I don't disagree with you in that and would not seek to tar everyone with the same brush. I do refer to more than the present generation, contempt and indifference is all around us - watch any local news programme, or simply go outside and observe.

Regarding the three wheeled railway trucks, I believe they were called "The Iron Horse", and made by leyland?

I think it was Mechanical Horse and they were made by Scamell - which eventually became part of Leyland. There were a couple of versions. The later ones had a big bulbous front, see picture. They were operated by the railway company but I suppose there were other operators.

10/- notes are certainly something you don't see any more. If you had a ten bob note you'd quite a bit of money on you. I once took the first Mrs Trojan to the Odeon Merrion Centre, bought her some sweets, and cigs for me and with bus fares spent 10/- I thought I'd spent a fortune! Well when you're only earning about a fiver a week and you've to give three of that to your Mam it was a fortune

Belisha Beacons, which relied partly on courtesy at Zebra crossings. The only old style zebra crossing I can think of still in operation is in Ilkley.
