However, to get to the point, most former Tetleys pubs now sell Landlord (the Commercial in Churwell sells Black Sheep) is this just a "guest ale" policy or a ploy to reduce sales of Tetley's cask so that it can be withdrawn? If so then another part of old Leeds will go. I'm old enough to remember Tetleys "Meadow Maltings" on Meadow Lane - anyone else?

Dunno if they have been mentioned but I believe there are / were some windows with the Melborne brewery logo at the Woodside Tavern in Horsforth.

From 1953 to 1960 I worked at Cox&Co (also now defunct) just across the road from the Melbourne Brewery on Regent Street. As far as Melbourne Ales are concerned, my friends and I were Tetley drinkers (Brown Cow, Whitkirk) (pint of mixed 1 sh 41/2d ). We considered the Melbourne stuff to be rough, i.e. unpalatable. However, the best pint in our opinion was a pint of mixed (John Smith's bitter - Tetley's mild) at a pub in Ledston. There was a Melbourne House on York Road at the junction with Crossgates Lane.

First I've found for a while. This is the 'Waggon and Horses' on Leeds Road, Bradford which has 4 nice leaded courtiers.
