Offer is on , of 'Four 500 ml bottles for a fiver!' All quite high abv's!You name it-I think they have most of 'em!Cheers! No he got killed along with Lieutenant George, Captain Darling, and Baldrick. As for Morrison's bottled beer you're spot on. Try Morrisons' "The Best" it's quite strong 6% but bottle conditioned and an excellent drink.Asda's "Whitechapel Porter" is also very good. The also sell Robinsons' (Stockport) "Old Tom" which is lethal at 7.5%!I'm quite fond of strong bottled ale - you can't have a session on it because you'd be under the table after three, but it does have a bit of taste. As for draught, Leeds Best is good, I had a pint of Rudgate Ruby Mild in the Palace last Friday - that was good, and of course good old Tim Taylor's "Landlord"I used to go to the Eagle on North Street in the seventies and eighties because it was the only place in Leeds you could get Landlord on draught!Beer Ritz opp Bryans has an excellent selection of bottled beers, buit pricey though - they also sell some of the Belgian rocket fuel beers like Grimbergen Tripel at 10%! Gentlemen Sainsburys is doing 4 for the price of 3 on ALL bottled beers, which works out better than Morrisons. The range, though slightly more expensive,is definitely wider than Morrisons or Asda and includes all their Lagers as well. (im a sucker for Budvar and Schneider Weiss)Also Asda dont stock Timmys, whats going on there then?Beer ritz is expensive, but it sells Sam Smiths (Old Brewery Pale ale Kerching!!)in bottles, you cant get that any where else,so keep it up chaps.I love real ale and wont drink Tetleys or John Smiths etc,but i am not a real ale snob.I will drink and thoroughly enjoy quality lagers, theres nowt wrong with that.Im ambidextrous when it comes to good beer!!

Thanks for all your advice, chaps! I didn't get to the shops yesterday, so I can follow your recommendations when I go tomorrow! I used to go to the Eagle in the 70s too. The only other place I can think of where you could get Taylor's was The Blue Pig, but that's just over the border in Bradford. I'm also partial to Czech and Belgian beers. Getting thirsty now!Cheers!Si

Bit late Troj. but I tried a bottle of Morri's'Best' last week. All I ask is- what is their 'Worst' like!!Cap off (bottle stood two days first)and I got a column of frothabt 6 inches out of the neck! Poured it very slowly in to theclass but it was 90 percent froth again all over the table! It finally settled after 15 mins so I had a Riggwelter to fillin with while waiting!'Fraid I must've got a duff one, 'Best' ,costho' it was lively it smelled like rubber bands! Must've had an extra dollop of yeast in the bottom during the conditioning!Managed to get it down and it IS nice and strong!

This one isn't all that old,1970 give or take. It's at the bottom of Leeds and Bradford road, left hand side after the canal bend.It refers to the time when the sewers under Kirkstall Road were being modernised. The spoil from the excavations was dumped here.Thereused to be another sign underneath saying'Drivers Beware,Mud on Road'From the canal by Kirkstall Lock it's possible to see the irregular lie of the land.If I were as clever as some users I'd be able to explain everything much more clearly by use of Google Earth....

In the '60s this entire site on Burley Road was Timothy White and Taylor.Boots bought them out and now small industrial units populate the area. This building must pre-date Timothy White when it was simply 'Taylors Drug Company Limited'
