Arry and Munki, thanks so much for that. Yes that's the guy I was talking about. Don't suppose you also have the literature to go with it do you? Sorry to be a pain.I'll tell you what's funny about this pic... I never remembered women still wearing headscarves in '79. I mean, not long after that all the New romantics bands were around. Hardly seems to be within the same 25 years let alone within five years

You might try the YEP/Yorkshire Diary website and see ifany more info? Never had much luck on there myself!Cnosi; I'm on Homecall not aol so hope that helps?!Was that picture in your 'post', of the Knight Foster Signs buildingon Water Lane? I remember being sent there by Shaw DaleElectrical around 1946 to clean and refurbish a big neon sign belonging to Wallis's Fashions, Briggate! Mucky job involvinga wire brush and 'Killed' spirits! Each letter was 4ft high by abt4inches square! It looked great when reinstalled with new paint and tubes!Arry

He always used to wear a blue jumper? i remember my mum making up a story that he had been given a new house and new shoes to make me feel better, obviously that was not the case. haven't seen him for years. Hi,Havn't had time to read all the threads, but is this the same bloke who used to wander around the Merrion centre shoeless in the early 90,s?He had a beard and a raggedy jumper. If so I hadn't seen him for years and assumed he was dead, but I saw him recently all dressed up and trimmed, maybe he came good after all.

anyone else spotted the guy who comes out begging in City square wrapped in a blanket? he normally appears outside the church around 5pm-6 pm for his nightly shift. He did have a dirty striped poncho type blanket but has just upgradedto a smarter new pinky/ red one. He makes a very good living from gullible people gving him money which he proceeds to spend in local hostelries when he clocks off!
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!
